Black Family Technology Awareness Week Celebrates a Decade of Discovery (Feb. 10-16)
Baltimore, MD (BlackNews.com) – The National Black Family Technology Awareness Campaign, will celebrate the tenth annual Black Family Technology Awareness Week (BFTAW), February 10th – 16th, 2008.
BFTAW is a national public awareness campaign designed to encourage more African Americans to incorporate technology into their daily lives. Partners and corporate supporters for this year’s campaign include the IBM Corporation, EMC, the US Navy, the Lockheed Martin Corporation, the National Black Data Processing Associates and NACME (National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering).

We all are familiar with this expression of being “big-boned” or “thick”, are we not? There are some that may unwittingly use this as a crutch for being overweight, but there are others that will openly proclaim and proudly acknowledge themselves as such. Then too, several high profile celebrities have even been known to encourage this flaunting of obesity – if you will. Although there is some pride association with this term, the on-going debate has been; whether or not being “big-boned” has any bearing on Black’s tendency to gain weight and lean more on the robust side.
Black History Competition for Students
New York, NY (BlackNews.com) – As a celebration of Black History Month, American Legacy, the magazine for African American history and culture, has partnered with American Family Insurance to launch American Legacy Challenge, an African- American history trivia competition for high school students. This year’s competition will take place in three U. S. cities with first rounds of the competition beginning next month.
