Did You Make a New Year’s Resolution?
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! — 2 Corinthians 5:17
At the beginning of a new year, many individuals spend time creating New Year’s resolutions. Did you make one (or a few)? How are you doing? Resolutions are goals that we hope to have accomplished by this time next year. Your list may have brand new resolutions or the same resolutions from preceding years. Resolutions vary and a typical list may be like the one below:

One of the most practical areas of the bible is the book of Proverbs. Most of Proverbs was recorded by King Solomon, known to be the wisest man of all time (1 King 3:12). Like his father King David, Solomon was a good king. Unfortunately, Solomon didn’t remain as faithful to God as his father. Even though he was the wisest man in the world, Solomon inherited a flaw from his dad, a deep love for beautiful women. Solomon went above and beyond by marrying 700 foreign women and keeping 300 concubines in his lavish palace.

"And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is good and acceptable and perfect will of God." Romans 12:1-2 NIV
There was a time I thought I was Ms. Goody-Two Shoes. You know my good outweighs my bad, so I’m okay. Not like other folks. This same condescending attitude kept me from accepting God in my life for years.
I believed in "the man upstairs", but I did my own thing, not comprehending there was a greater purpose outside my little world. As life goes, frustration and anger settled into my being and I started to wonder, wasn’t there more to life than this?

WHO TURNED UP THE THERMOSTAT?
I know most of us have heard the expression, “If you can’t stand the heat, get out of the kitchen.” During the summer months, I tend to purposely stay out of the kitchen, only using the oven if I must.
When the Weather Channel folks predict temperatures will rise above 95 and heat indexes even higher, I’m not trying to plan outdoor activities. Okay. I prefer to stay cozy with the air conditioner as much as possible.
The Strength of a Godly Woman

March is Women’s History Month. This monthly celebration began in 1978, when the Education Task Force of the Sonoma County (California) Commission on the Status of Women initiated a “Women’s History Week” celebration. Later, in 1987, the National Women’s History Project petitioned Congress to expand the national celebration to the entire month of March.
Often during this month, women are honored for being the first to achieve some feat or for their incredible strength to beat the odds. Let’s take a brief survey through Jesus’ earthly ministry, and meet godly women who experienced the “Good News” firsthand. I think this time of reflection will give you something to marvel whether you are a man or a woman.
How to Adjust Your Priorities
How to Adjust Your Priorites

A few weeks ago, I talked about setting priorities, using the story of Martha and Mary. In this familiar story, Jesus scolded Martha for not making him a priority. Now mind you, at first glance, it might seem Martha’s preparations for her special guest made it appear Jesus was a priority. This assumption goes downhill when her obsession with her workload causes her frustration. Jesus is the one who requests all come to him who are weary and burdened (Matthew 11:28), so certainly any frustrations stemmed from Martha’s frantic service. Who knows, her sister might have eventually helped, but it was more important for Mary to fill her cup with spiritual food versus helping to prepare physical food.
In the next few weeks, using the book of Psalms, I will post a series called, “How to Adjust Your Priorities” There will be seven principles discussed in this series. Let’s explore the first principle.
