A Worthy Project
Dear Brothers,
This is a call to my brothers. I have been sensing an urgency as it pertains to the state of our young men. Often times in our own quest to achieve “success” in life we can easily find ourselves so enamored in our own ambitions that we lose touch with those struggling around us. I am deeply concerned about the plight of our young brothers. Their image, among other things, is suffering. They are in dire need of another image to be modeled. It is not the responsibility of the government to have to pass laws about sagging pants to bring home the message of the power of ones image. It is our responsibility to ban together as fathers, grandfathers, uncles, big brothers, elders, and mentors to raise the bar and set a new standard.

With over 65% of churchgoers in the overweight or obese category (according to a Purdue University study), Body Temple Wellness is launching a nationwide 10 city tour and weight loss challenge to bring the type of lasting weight loss success to other cities across America that Los Angeles area churchgoers have experienced since 1994.
African-American Children in Foster Care
NATIONAL CHILD WELFARE LEADERS ENDORSE FEDERAL CALL FOR REFORM TO REDUCE HIGH NUMBER OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE
Washington, DC (BlackNews.com) – Members of the powerful U.S. House Ways and Means Committee heard from leaders and advocates today concerned about disparities in the child welfare system during a Capitol Hill briefing held by the Casey-CSSP Alliance for Racial Equity in Child Welfare (the Alliance).
Citing the need for all children to grow up in safe and caring families with equal access to opportunity, the Alliance has called the recent Government Accountability Office (GAO) report on the over-representation of African-American children in the child welfare system a "clarion call to action" for everyone who cares about the nation’s children and families. Leaders of the Alliance, representing the Casey legacy foundations, commended the GAO and the House Ways and Means Committee for raising awareness about the over-representation of African-American children in foster care and for recognizing this as an urgent problem that requires immediate action.
