I applaud your recent creation of the White House Council on Women and Girls to help ensure we are treated equally in public policies, by employers and in every other aspect of American society. I must also urge, however, that you place a similar emphasis on men and boys, particularly young men of color, who face some of the steepest hurdles in American society.

“Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.” (Proverbs 22:6). Many in the Body of Christ quote this scripture, but the limit the application to the area of behavior. Today, there are many of us who express that we have heard our mothers and grandmothers pray. Seldom is it said, ‘I heard my father pray.’ Regardless of your position in the family, the majority of the children of today are not hearing prayers.

In this age of marketing and media, there are many invitations that are sent through the mail or the internet for a dinner at an expensive or exclusive restaurant. At first glance, you are excited about the possibility of a free meal. Looking closer, the fine print reveals the purpose, a demonstration or presentation designed for persuasion.
An invitation is announcement of a forthcoming event or activity which requests your presence. What would you do if you received an invitation that did not have anything strings attached? What if the invitation was to an event that would change your life in ways that you could not even imagine? An invitation is presented prior to the event so that you have time to make a decision.
