Friendiligence
by Sherryle Kiser Jackson
Friendiligence is one of those Internet buzzwords up for consideration to be added to the upcoming edition of the Merriman Webster Dictionary. Google it. It loosely means the time and energy used to establish and maintain friends and friend requests mainly on social networking sites like Facebook and MySpace. As an author trying to navigate the vastness of the World Wide Web in order to market and promote my book, friendiligence most surely is an action verb. It is the type of action that can take the man hours of two full time jobs to complete effectively.

New Report Highlights Best and Worst State Laws to Protect Kids’ Vision
Alexandria, VA (BlackNews.com) – A new report by The Vision Council, Making the Grade? finds state laws regarding vision assessments for children entering school are inconsistent, which can impede children’s ability to succeed in school. Since 80 percent of what children learn is through visual processing of information, undetected vision problems among children can severely impact cognitive development. This is particularly a concern for African American children because of the disproportionate rates of vision problems in their community.

THE MYTH OF THE POOR MAN’S PATENT
by Darcell Walker
Houston, TX (BlackNews.com) – Paraphrasing Warren Buffet, "The best response to a slow economy is to determine how one can generate their own wealth." Developing ideas is one way people can generate wealth and start down the road to financial independence. Everyday people conceive novel ideas for products and services. However, many of these ideas go undeveloped. Several factors contribute to people not pursuing their ideas. In addition to a lack of confidence and the fear of losing the idea to someone else, one main factor that contributes to a person not pursuing his or her idea is a lack of practical knowledge of what to do. Fueling this lack of knowledge are misconceptions and misinformation. One example of misinformation is the concept of the "Poor Man’s Patent."

Add To Your Faith
by Becky DeWitt
Have you ever read a scripture that you have read before and stumbled upon a phrase that just leaped in your spirit and eventually was on your mind all the time? For about two months, everywhere I turned was ‘add to your faith.’ I heard it on Christian television. I even sponsored a church program with this as the theme and now it is an article.
‘Add to your faith’ is found in II Peter 1:5-10. These scriptures list seven qualities that we must not only develop, but exercise. One of the great deceptions in the Body of Christ is that salvation stops at the cross. Actually it is the beginning of the journey. The acceptance of the invitation to salvation delivers one from the old sinful life and sets one on a path to seek, hunger, and thirst after God and the divine revelation of who He is.

Stop Bringing Knives To Gun Fights!
by Damainion Ewell
“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one” (Ephesians 6:13-16, NKJV).
Are you strong enough to stand up against the accusation?

The Reward of Revelation
by Becky DeWitt
Secrets, secrets, secrets. Everyone has secrets, even God. He has so many secrets that our human mind will never be able to comprehend, as “His thoughts are not our thoughts.” (Isaiah 55:8). But He would love to share His secrets with His friends. Are you a friend that He can entrust a powerful life changing thought of the universe with? He has secrets of your past, your present, and your future, as well as others. The key is being in a position of trust. Whatever it is, it will be so awesome that you cannot even utter a word. You will only be able to ponder and meditate until the time of the release.
